Kalliope in Blue
Join us in Yarmouth’s beautiful Thacher Hall for a blue-inspired program celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and Gershwin’s 125th birthday! This concert features works from living composers from across Latin America, beginning with Mexican composers Abraham Gomez and Nubia Jaime Donjuan. Next we will feature two Kalliope commissions, Miguel del Aguila’s Transoceanica, musically depicting an adventurous bus ride from Rio to Lima, Peru, followed by Peruvian/American composer Daniel Cueto’s Amaru, inspired by the Peruvian Deity and featured on our upcoming album! And in celebration of it being the week of George Gershwin’s 125th birthday, Kalliope will complete the concert with two brand new Gershwin arrangements: selections from his lesser-known opera Blue Monday, and one of his favorite masterpieces Rhapsody in Blue. Tickets $30 for adults and free for youth under 18, and are available for purchase here. This concert was made possible with the generous support from Thacher Hall and the Historical Society of Old Yarmouth.
