Scheherazade, arranged for woodwind quintet
This is Jonathan’s second arrangement of a major orchestral repertoire work for woodwind quintet, at the behest of Imani Winds (the first being his arrangement of The Rite of Spring). The aim was to condense Rimsky-Korsakav’s 45-minute tone poem into a 20 minute chamber work that could still effectively evoke the vivid colors and basic story-line of the original.
